"Images of the Past in the City of Roses," history book published by Southeast Missourian staff, has sold out; 2,000 books were printed, and 1,000 were pre-sold.

Back-to-back snowstorms bury area under seven or more inches of snow and forecasters predict more of winter's fury through tomorrow; snow, heavy at times, leaves four more inches on ground, just as some headway had been made in clearing streets and highways of three-inch snow which struck yesterday.

Two Cape Girardeau servicemen are presumed dead, their next of kin have been officially notified; declared dead were Staff Sgt. Buddy J. Bonney and Capt. Archie D. Trantham.

Stephen N. Limbaugh, who is associated with his father and brother in practice of law, has filed as candidate for Republican nomination for prosecuting attorney.

75 years ago: Jan. 6, 1929

The Rev. W.A. Schultze, pastor of Grace Methodist Church, attends dedication of Methodist church at Perryville in morning; church there has been rebuilt and one room added.

The Rev. J.H. Knehans, 78, minister of Methodist Episcopal Church for more than 50 years, is ill at Southeast Missouri Hospital with pneumonia.
