Wolohan Lumber Co. of Saginaw, Michigan, has purchased the Riverside Building Supply and Home Centers property at 120 N. Kingshighway and will open a lumber and hardware operation here this year.

Today is the coldest day in three years in Cape Girardeau as a new cold wave, roaring out of the northwest, sent the mercury on a 34-degree dive overnight to 4 degrees below zero; the snow on the ground is proving a delight for coasting youngsters; the city has closed two blocks on Lorimier Street, between Good Hope and Merriweather streets, for coasting; but daredevils continue to coast the hill on Lorimier Street just north of Broadway at breakneck speeds, and at times into Broadway traffic.
Dropping to its lowest stage here in eight years, the Mississippi River faces the prospect of being gorged with huge ice floes or frozen over; the stage at Cape Girardeau is 4.6 feet.
It is rumored that the Common Pleas Court here may be entirely abolished, or at least made a branch of some circuit; it is one of the few independent courts in the states, and its usefulness has grown from year to year, until the lawyers practicing in this end of the state have come to look upon it as a necessity.
Mrs. Garrett Glenn, having just returned from studies in St. Louis of the latest dances as taught by an Eastern master, opens her dance class again in the evening at West End Hall; all the new dances will be taught.
