Two-day school for instructors of civil defense auxiliary fire and police corps in Cape Girardeau and 19 other Southeast Missouri cities will be held next Thursday and Friday at Presbyterian Church education building.

Lorimier School's Parent-Teacher Unit will take its Happy Hollow cleanup campaign before City Council Monday, and No. 1 topic on agenda will be open sewer which winds through low basin southwest of school; concerned parents won't ask council to help close Happy Hollow Cave, as it looks as if owners of property, Missouri Pacific Railroad, will take care of cavern.

75 years ago: Jan. 25, 1927

With complete resumption of electric power practically assured for early this evening and telephone service being restored throughout city, Cape Girardeau is showing quick recovery from severe weekend sleet and ice storm, which crippled communications and almost paralyzed half of city's lighting system.

Formal announcement is made of plans for construction in West End residential section of two eight-family efficiency apartments to be built by David Shaltupsky, Main street merchant; one building will be built on Park avenue, between Harmony and Broadway, while other, directly east of it, will face on Henderson.
