50 years ago: Jan. 2, 1954

Permission has been obtained from the Most Rev. Joseph E. Ritter, archbishop of St. Louis, to undertake certain improvements in St. Mary's Catholic Church; included in work will be replacing of present altars and sanctuary appointments, and plastering the nave.

J.U. White, farmer at Lodi in Wayne County, will replace Will Bahn of Cape Girardeau on Southeast Missouri Teachers College Board of Regents; Bahn's term had expired.
