Plan to set up new voting wards in Cape Girardeau, replacing present 11 wards, was studied by city council yesterday; plan, which would make necessary a complete re-registration of voters, was referred to Board of Registrars for approval.

75 years ago: Jan. 19, 1929

Death toll from tornado which swept over Southeast Missouri yesterday was raised to three with report of death of Mrs. Henry Brown, 35, wife of Scott County farmer, who was fatally injured when their farm house was demolished.

Extension of electric light service by Missouri Utilities Co. to rural area northwest of Cape Girardeau to supply several farm residences and County Home is being considered.
