Over objections of Councilman Robert K. Herbst, city council has voted to contract with Joplin engineering firm of Allgeier, Martin, and Associates, Inc., to design several modifications for city's wastewater treatment plant.

BENTON, Mo. - Two children are instantly killed, their father is seriously injured and three other members of same family narrowly escape death when their farm house, six miles east of Benton, is demolished by tornado; dead are Marjorie Hargraves, 4, and her brother, Buddy, 3; Loren Hargraves, their father, is in serious condition.
