At least 2 inches of snow blanketed parts of Southeast Missouri late Monday and early Tuesday, forcing cancellation of school and causing problems for motorists; Cape Girardeau police reported at least 20 minor accidents in city.

It was mammoth effort, but city sanitation crews almost entirely cleared away buildup of garbage after snowy weather prevented all trash pickups until Thursday; crews worked overtime yesterday and today to catch up.

William M. Regenhardt, 57, contractor and native of Cape Girardeau, died last night in St. Louis hospital; head of Regenhardt Construction Co., he moved his family to Mount Vernon, Ill., 19 years ago, as many of firm's contracts were in Illinois.

Charleston - As apparent answer to recent reports that effort would be made to vote out city manager form of government, City Council gives vote of confidence to City Manager Clyde Swank and his administration.

75 years ago: Jan. 15, 1927

City Engineer Ed Sailer, who is rapidly completing plans for new storm water sewer in downtown district, estimates that project will cost property owners in district not more than $125,000, about half original estimate placed on work.

Establishment in Cape Girardeau of purchasing center where farmers may dispose of all of their products is announced by O.E. Eggimann, who with A.E. Miles has formed Corn, Feed & Poultry Co., with offices on South Frederick street.
