25 years ago: Jan. 13, 1985

The Rev. Murray A. Frick Jr., new associate minister at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), has arrived in Cape Girardeau with his wife and daughter; Frick comes from Webster Groves Christian Church in St. Louis.

Britt Airways Inc., which began airline passenger service in and out of Cape Girardeau in September 1983, handled 21,846 passengers during 1984 at its Cape Girardeau Municipal Airport terminal.

50 years ago: Jan. 13, 1960

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Farrow have purchased Farrow's Superette at 1830 Bloomfield Road from Herman Schmittzehe and will reopen the store tomorrow; the Farrows had sold the market 10 years ago to Mr. and Mrs. Al Schoen; Mr. and Mrs. Farrow have been in the grocery business since 1933, when they built Cape Girardeau's first drive-in grocery store, the Pak-A-Snak, at 1606 Independence St.

It isn't spring, but Cape Girardeau schoolchildren are enjoying the abnormally high temperatures; recent highs have reached the upper 60s.

75 years ago: Jan. 13, 1935

The Rev. B.L. Patrick has been re-elected pastor of the South Side Baptist Church and will serve for another year; he recently resigned, but has reconsidered that decision.

DEXTER, Mo. -- An intensive program for promoting the Boy Scout movement in the region is inaugurated at the annual meeting of the Southeast Missouri Area Council at the Christian Church here; the program includes the purchase of a permanent campsite of 50 acres on St. Francis River in Wayne County, just 1 1/2 miles from Sam A. Baker State Park.

100 years ago: Jan. 13, 1910

Mrs. Max Koeck yesterday afternoon gave a reception before moving from her present home to her new home on Ellis Street, and more than 100 ladies attended; Mr. and Mrs. Koeck expect to move into their new home in a few days.

The Rev. A. Kistler, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, leaves in the afternoon for Charleston, Mo., where he will act as moderator for a church meeting.
