The Rev. D. Lee Cullen Jr. is ordained into ministry and installed as pastor of Christ Lutheran Church in Gordonville; ordinator is the Rev. David V. Dissen of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau and first vice president of Missouri District; Cullen, 25, is native of Peoria, Ill.; he and his wife, former Donna A. Milovic, have 10-month-old son, Michael Patrick.

One Southeast Missouri native has announced his retirement from state Supreme Court and another is also due to step down in December; Judge Fred L. Henley of Caruthersville submitted letter of resignation, effective April 30, to Gov. Joseph P. Teasdale on Monday; Judge James L. Finch of Cape Girardeau will reach mandatory retirement age during 1978 and is expected to end his tenure on court Dec. 31.
Benton -- Residents of North Scott County, who have complained about lack of adequate ambulance service, may have relief in sight; acting on behalf of volunteer ambulance attendants and former employees of North Scott County Ambulance Service at Chaffee, Benton attorney Kenneth Gibbar has notified Scott County Court of his intention to file initiative petition calling for establishment of ambulance district in North Scott County.

Average number of people in Cape Girardeau County household at time of 1950 decennial census was 3.34 people, report on population characteristics shows; there were 9,305 married couples living together and 8,790 lived in their own households, while 515 shared living quarters with others; total number of households in county was 11,177.
Col. and Mrs. Edward L. Downs, Col. and Mrs. Fred A. Grove, and Col. and Mrs. A.R. Trapf will go to Jefferson City Sunday to attend inauguration of Governor-elect Phil M. Donnelly on Monday; three men are honorary colonels on Donnelly's staff.
75 years ago: Jan. 10, 1928
It is reported that J.C. Penney Co. has contracted for 15-year lease on property now occupied by I. Ben Miller store on Main Street and will erect thereon modern store building as soon as possession can be had; it is said that Juden estate, owner of property, has given Miller six months in which to vacate; Miller store has been at that site for more than 30 years.
New Southeast Missouri Hospital opens for reception of patients; however, first patient at hospital was actually Guy Lowes of Grand Tower, Ill., who underwent minor operation for removal of tonsils on Monday.
