Meyers are married 50 years

Rupert and Helen Meyer of Cape Girardeau were honored on their 50th wedding anniversary with a dinner at Davis Banquet Hall in Jackson. Hosts were their children.

The couple was married July 21, 1956, at St. Boniface Church in Perryville, Mo.

The Meyers lived in Bonne Terre, Mo., for a brief time, moving to Cape Girardeau in 1960. He has sold real estate at Meyer Realty since that time.

Their children are Rebecca (Tom) Essner of Cape Girardeau, Lisa (Harry) Smith of Newburgh, Ind., and John (Suzanne) Meyer of Coppell, Texas.

They have 11 grandchildren, Josh and Katie Essner; Mackenzie, Harry III, Lauren, Ryan, Samuel and Luke Smith; Austin, Elizabeth, and Jack Meyer.
