Essners mark golden event

BENTON, Mo. -- Mr. and Mrs. Paul L. Essner of Benton celebrated their 50th anniversary with a mass at St. Denis Catholic Church and a dinner and dance at St. Denis Parish Center July 26, 2003.

Hosts were their children and families.

Essner and Bertha Brockmeyer were married July 25, 1953, at St. Mary's Cathedral in Cape Girardeau.

Their children and spouses are: Leonard and Leslie Essner of Jackson, Donald and Theresa Essner of Bridgeton, Mo., Larry and Betty Essner and Karen and Todd Powers, all of Benton, and Michael and Glenda Essner of Oran, Mo.

The couple has 20 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
