Cox and Betty Lou Scott were married June 3, 1956, in the Federated Church in Mound City, Kan., by the Rev. Homer Keith. Their attendants were the bride's sisters and the groom's brother.

They have three sons, Robert Jr. and Janie Cox of Jackson, Scott Cox of Columbia, Mo., and the late Charles Cox and Debbie of Scott City.

The couple has five grandchildren, Jordan and Jason Cox of Jackson, Sarah (Jeremy) Pruden and Lisa (Shawn) Sanford of Scott City, Neil Sanders (Angie) of Smithville, Mo.; and four great-grandchildren.

Cox came to Southeast Missouri State University in 1964 to develop a printing program. He later served as chairman of the Industrial and Technical Education Department. He retired as professor emeritus in 1991. Mrs. Cox taught 15 years at Notre Dame Regional High School.
