Couple marks 60 years

WITTENBERG, Mo. -- Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Theiss of Wittenberg observed their 60th wedding anniversary with a celebration Dec. 28, 2002, in Altenburg, Mo.

Hosts were their children and spouses, Kathy and Danny Schoenherr of Frohna, Mo., Nancy and Lynn Ponivas of Alton, Ill., and Bud Theiss of Detroit, Mich.

Guests attended from Altenburg, Frohna, Perryville, Cape Girardeau, St. Louis and Columbia, Mo.; Chicago, Alton and Carbondale, Ill.; and Detroit.

Theiss and Viola Gerler were married Dec. 26, 1942, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Altenburg, by the Rev. Vogel.

Their attendants were Lorna Pilz Gerler of Perryville, Leona Holschen Schuessler of Altenburg, Paul Theiss of Uniontown, Mo., and the late George Gerler of Perryville.

The couple has eight grandchildren, Kurt Schoenherr of Perryville, Deanna Davenport of Columbia, Bram Ponivas and Renee Theiss of Chicago, Drew Ponivas of Carbondale, John Ponivas of Alton, and Marc and Erich Theiss of Detroit.
