Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bertrand of Cape Girardeau recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary with a family dinner at Port Cape, hosted by their children. The Bertrands and their family also made a trip to Las Vegas.
Bertrand and Dorothy Huettig were married Aug. 31, 1946, in Perryville, Mo., by the Rev. A.M. Lohmann. Bertrand is the son of the late Frank C. and Zetta Essner Bertrand. Mrs. Bertrand is the daughter of the late Oscar and Frieda Klaus Huettig.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean conflict. He retired from Cape Electrical Supply Inc. Mrs. Bertrand retired as secretary to the superintendent of Cape Girardeau School District. They are members of Trinity Lutheran Church.
The Bertrands have three children, Harry Bertrand Jr. of Jackson, Barbara (Mark) Bage of Ballwin, Mo., and Michael (Kim) Bertrand of Friday Harbor, San Juan Island, Wash. They have five grandchildren, Jonathan, Brian (Shannon) and David Bage, all of Ballwin; Emily (Jon) Wade of Springfield, Mo.; Andrew Bertrand of Jackson; and a great-grandson, Kevin Wade.
