JACKSON, Mo. -- Mr. and Mrs. Helmuth Doberenz of Jackson celebrated their 61st anniversary with a reception Oct. 15, 2000, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
The reception was hosted by a daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Ken Steffens of Cape Girardeau.
Among the guests attending was Gilbert Meyr, one of their attendants. Guest speaker was the Rev. Walter Keisker.
Doberenz and the former Rosa Meyr were married Oct. 15, 1939, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Wells, Mo., by the Rev. Dippold.
The couple has six children, Irma Meyer of Spring Valley, Minn., Ruth Lacy of Belton, Mo., Paul Doberenz of Livermore, Calif., Wanda Steffens, Marvin Doberenz of Weatherford, Texas, and Kenny Doberenz of Jackson. They also have 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
