Dr. and Mrs. Bryce D. March of Cape Girardeau were honored Aug. 5, 2000, with a reception and dinner in observance of their 50th wedding anniversary.

The even was held in the Family Life Center of Centenary United Methodist Church. Hosts were their children and spouses: Merri and Mark Abels of Ladue, Mo., Melissa and Stephen Gallant of Atlanta, Ga., and Stephen and Jennifer March of Webster Groves, Mo.

Guests attended from Missouri, Tennessee, California, Georgia and Pennsylvania. Music was provided by Jack Kinder.

March and the former Dorothy Lee Ross were married Aug. 4, 1950, at Centenary Church by the Rev. Dr. Robert C. Holliday. Their attendants were the late Melvin Ross, brother of Mrs. March, and Emily Turner Story.

March is a retired professor emeritus from Southeast Missouri State University, where he served as assistant to the president and as chair of the Department of Industrial Technology. Mrs. March had worked in newspaper and radio.

The couple has seven grandchildren: Christopher Michael, Sarah Erin and Trenton Ross Rosenthal; Danielle Ayn and Madison Ross Gallant; Meredith Anne and Taylor Grant March.
