Funeral for Zeno "Sammy" Schaefer Jr. of Russellville, Ark., was held Friday, Dec. 28, 2001, at St. John's Catholic Church. The Rev. Ernie Hardesty officiated. Burial was in St. Paul/Gravel Hill Cemetery near Dover, Ark.
Humphrey Funeral Service in Russellville was in charge of arrangements.
Schaefer, 59, died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2001, at his home.
He was born June 24, 1942, in Cape Girardeau, son of Zeno and Barbara Glueck Schaefer Sr. He and Linda Skelton were married Oct. 16, 1965, in Long Beach, Calif.
Schaefer received a bachelor of science degree from Arkansas Tech University.
He was retired from the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was owner/ operator of All-A-Board Construction Co.
He was a member of St. John's Church, Knights of Columbus, Eagles, VFW and American Legion.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Lyn Campbell of Russellville, Amy Schaefer of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two sons, Zeno Schaefer III and Jon Schaefer of Russellville; his mother of Scott City, Mo.; 10 sisters, Ann Ingram of Oran, Mo., Edna Crosswhite of Columbia, Mo., Xaveria Sturm, Marian Wyatt, Cindy King and Karla Schaefer, all of Scott City, Valeria Lee of San Diego, Calif., Barbara Flippo of Sikeston, Mo., Darlene Laton of Cameron, N.C., Kathy Elizondo of Cape Girardeau; three brothers, Butch Schaefer of Bell City, Mo., Marcus Schaefer of Benton, Mo., Lawrence Schaefer of Cahokia, Ill.; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, a brother and a sister.
