Winifred Knife

Winifred Grace Knife, 86, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Jefferson City, Mo., died Friday, May 2, 2008, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

She was born March 27, 1922, in Bellfield, N.D., daughter of Joseph Schwartz and Elizabeth Dorthea Asmus.

She and Leslie Palmer Knife were married Jan. 14, 1942.

Survivors include a son, Charles W. Knife of Columbia, Mo.; a daughter, Pam Strauss of Cape Girardeau; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.

She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, four brothers and a sister.

Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1 p.m. Monday at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens in Jefferson City.

Service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Tom Scull officiating. Burial will follow in the mausoleum.
