Wilma H. Schlimpert, 95, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Shawneetown, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2019, at Lutheran Home.
She was born Jan. 19, 1924, in Tilsit to Henry and Anna Louise Siebert Lange. She and Clarence M. Schlimpert were married April 21, 1946, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tilsit, also the church of her baptism and confirmation. She and Clarence had been married for 73 years when he passed away Sept. 6, 2019.
Since her marriage, Wilma had been a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Shawneetown, where she sang in the choir, taught religion and Sunday school and was active in the Ladies Aid.
Wilma worked 20 years as treasurer for Public Supply Water District 1 in Fruitland. Clarence co-owned and operated Schlimpert and Seyer Auction business for more than 60 years, and Wilma also assisted him with the auctions.
Wilma's family affectionately recalls her faithfulness in attending the activities of her children and grandchildren.
Loving survivors include her children, Brenda McCowan of Cape Girardeau and Rodney Schlimpert of Mineral Point, Wisconsin; grandsons, Michael (Amanda Madoux) McCowan of St. Louis and Jeffrey McCowan of Tampa, Florida; and sister-in-law, Berniece Lorenz of Jackson.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; three brothers, Melvin, Clarence and Paul Lange; and three sisters, Ruby McManus, Della Schwab, and Nora Clark.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Virgil Kelm officiating. Burial will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Shawneetown.
The family suggests contributions to Saxony Lutheran High School, Trinity Lutheran Church in Shawneetown or Pulmonary Hypertension Association.
