Wilma C. Bodenschatz, 83, of New Wells passed away Monday, March 24, 2014, at her home.
She was born Sept. 5, 1930, in New Wells, to Rudolf "Rudy" and Clara Braeuner Tiedemann. She and Rudolf "Rudy" Bodenschatz were married Sept. 7, 1951.
Wilma was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Wells. She attended the church's former grade school.
In 1946 she moved to St. Louis and joined Gethsemane Lutheran Church, where she enjoyed fellowship in the church volleyball and bowling leagues. She was employed at Maquay Norris, a manufacturer of automobile parts; was a cook in the Brentwood School District; and worked at Ice Cream Specialties. Upon returning to New Wells in 2005, she and Rudy rejoined Immanuel Church.
Loving survivors include her husband of 62 years, Rudy of New Wells; a daughter, Joyce (Brad) Hutson of New Wells; two grandchildren, Tara Donley and Wade Hutson of Jackson; two great-grandsons, Levi and Vincent Donley of Jackson; a sister, Ruby Wall of Springdale, Ark.; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father; mother; stepfather, Alfred Schuppan; a grandson, Dallan Hutson; three sisters, Irene Allen, Mildred Barnett, Dorothy Hadler; and an infant sister, Irma Tiedemann.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson, and from 10 a.m. to service time Friday at Immanuel Church in New Wells.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. Lawrence N. Bradt officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to Immanuel Lutheran Church Building or Parking Lot Funds.
