EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. -- Willie Ray Smith, 77, of East Prairie died Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at his home.

He was born Jan. 2, 1927, at Portageville, Mo., son of John Samuel and Minnie Mae Caldwell Smith. He and Shirley Ann Skelton were married July 18, 1960, at Charleston, Mo.

Smith moved to East Prairie in 1960 from Portageville.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Jimmy Smith of East Prairie; four daughters, Kathy Starkey of Fulton, Mo., Shirley Swan of Sikeston, Mo., Norma Brewer and Peggy Sprinkles of East Prairie; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, two brothers and a sister.

Friends may call at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie after 11 a.m. Friday.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Mike Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
