EAST PRAIRIE -- Willie M. Burnes, 80, of East Prairie, died Thursday, June 10, 1993, at East Prairie Nursing Center.
He was born Feb. 1, 1913, in Union City, Tenn., son of William Fletcher and Betty Hite Burnes. He and Nora Elizabeth Wiggins Burnes were married Nov. 18, 1941, at Charleston.
Burnes was a retired sheetmetal worker with Perfecto Co. in Los Angeles, Calif. He moved here 17 years ago from Bell Gardens, Calif. He was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Billy Burnes of Glendora, Calif., Cecil Burnes of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., Henry Burnes of Arkansas; a brother, William Burnes of Detroit, Mich., and a sister, Rosie Taylor of East Prairie.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Shelby Funeral Chapel. Mike Johnson will officiate, with burial in East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. today.
