ORAN, Mo. -- Willie C. Hawkins Sr., 73, of Oran died Monday, May 19, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Oct. 8, 1929, in Darling, Miss., son of Hattie Hawkins. He was a member of the St. John Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and usher. He worked for Sikeston Motor Company for more than 28 years.
He lived in the Birdie, Miss., area, where he and Charlean Taylor were married July 9, 1955. They moved to Sikeston, Mo., in 1959.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Willie C. Hawkins Jr. of Sikeston, Myron Hawkins of Kansas City, Mo., and Jimmie Hawkins of San Antonio, Texas; four daughters, Mizella Davis, Floria Hawkins and Barbie Hawkins, all of Kansas City, and Kendra Rencher of Broken Arrow, Okla.; one sister, Ola Mae Hawkins of Sikeston; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister and a granddaughter.
Friends may call at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston.
The funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Flem Brower officiating. Burial will be in Sikeston Memorial Park Cemetery.
