Willie Mae Dempsey, 65, of Jefferson City, Mo., formerly of Scott City, died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2008, at her home.

She was born April 9, 1943, in Paducah, Ky., daughter of Thurman W. and Myrtle R. Shrodes Phillips. She and Billie H. Dempsey were married July 8, 1983, at Scott City.

Dempsey was a registered nurse and had worked at The Lutheran Home, Jefferson City Memorial Hospital, and served as director of nursing with Otke Nursing Homes until her retirement.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Rick Moore of Dalhart, Texas, the Rev. Billy Dempsey of Highland, Ill.; a daughter, Bobby Jean Gray of Scott City; two sisters, Mary Menz of Jefferson City, Sandra Gallatin of Fulton, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the chapel, with the Rev. Billy Dempsey officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
