CAIRO, Ill. -- William R. "Bill" Stuart, 74, of Cairo died Thursday, April 26, 2001, at Daystar Care Center.
He was born July 20, 1926, in Burns, Tenn., son of Norman and Louella Ladd Stuart. He married Viola Dewitt Poole, who died in 1991.
Stuart owned and operated Stuart's Veach Service Station several years.
Survivors include two sons, Richard and Earl Stuart of Cairo; a daughter, Carolyn Stuart of St. Louis; a stepson, Arthur Poole of Cairo; two stepdaughters, Viola Scheffer of Paducah, Ky., Esther Stuart of Cairo; four sisters, Pearl Marsh of Pegram, Tenn., Clara Cunningham and Vera Shrum of Nashville, Tenn., Mary Fissinger of Cairo; two brothers, Thomas Stuart of Ashland, Tenn., Charles Stuart of Pegram; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
Friends may call at Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo after 6 p.m. Sunday.
Funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Jerry McIntosh officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Wetaug, Ill.
