CAIRO, Ill. -- William B. "Mickey" Ryan, 73, of Cairo died Thursday, Feb. 13, 1997, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo. He was born Feb. 24, 1923, in Cairo, son of William and Leola Walker Ryan. Ryan retired as a first mate with Mississippi Valley Line Towing Co. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Elks Lodge 651, Knights of Columbus Council 1027, VFW Post 2649, all in Cairo, and Alexander-Pulaski Sportsman Club. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II...

CAIRO, Ill. -- William B. "Mickey" Ryan, 73, of Cairo died Thursday, Feb. 13, 1997, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

He was born Feb. 24, 1923, in Cairo, son of William and Leola Walker Ryan.

Ryan retired as a first mate with Mississippi Valley Line Towing Co. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Elks Lodge 651, Knights of Columbus Council 1027, VFW Post 2649, all in Cairo, and Alexander-Pulaski Sportsman Club. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Pat; two daughters, Susan Weston of Cape Girardeau and Marty Ryan of Paducah, Ky.; two sons, Patrick Ryan of Cairo and Jack Ryan of Prairie Du Rocher; a brother, Charles Ryan of Manchester, Conn.; and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter and a great-grandson.

Friends may call at Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo after 4 p.m. Sunday. The rosary will be recited at 7.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick's Church, with the Rev. Jerome Fortenberry officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at Villa Ridge.
