McCLURE, Ill. -- William "Bill" McHughs, 68, of McClure died Saturday, April 7, 2018, at his home.

He was born July 20, 1949, in Cairo, Illinois, to Vernon and Dixie McHughs.

Bill proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps and was wounded in action in Vietnam.

He served the city of Cape Girardeau for 12 years and Alexander County, Illinois, for 18 years as a police officer.

He is survived by his loving family and many friends.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Crain Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Thebes, Illinois.

Memorial contributions may be made to Crain Funeral Home to assist the family with final expenses.
