EAST PRAIRIE -- William M. Boyd, 84, of East Prairie, died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 1991 of an apparent heart attack.
He was born Sept. 12, 1907, at Covington, Tenn., son of J.W. and Emma LaVelle Boyd. He lived in Mississippi County most of his life and was a retired mechanic.
He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in East Prairie and the New Madrid Masonic Lodge No. 429.
On May 8, 1926, he married Mary Alline Nunn. She died Jan. 1, 1975. On June 18, 1975, he married Oma Grider. She survives.
Other survivors are two sons, Kenny Boyd, Matthews, and Bill Boyd, New Madrid; six daughters, Imajane Helms and Betty Ziegler of New Madrid, Pansy Sexton, Detroit, Mich., and Rebecca Presson, Sue Treadway and Sharon Hutcheson all of East Prairie; one brother, Ellott Boyd, Covington; one sister, Viva Sigger, Texas; 23 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
One son, one grandson and 13 siblings preceded him in death.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie. Service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with the Revs. Burl Britt and Johnny Bell officiating. Burial will be in the East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
