William M. Betts, 76, of Cape Girardeau, died Thursday, Jan. 16, 1992, at the Cape Girardeau Nursing Center.

He was born Feb. 15, 1915, in Lambert, Miss.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army. He received the Bronze Star, campaign ribbons and four overseas bars.

Betts worked for Kiefner Construction Co. of Cape Girardeau before retiring in 1981.

He was married to the former Sadie Fleming. She survives.

Other survivors include a brother, Willie Betts of Sikeston and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.

Service will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the New Bethel Baptist Church, with Rev. Johnny Thomas officiating. Interment will be in Fairmont Cemetery.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Sprigg St. Chapel Monday from 6 to 8 p.m.
