William Wayne Knickerbocker, 61, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born June 29, 1940, in Fredonia, Kan., son of Charles J. and Alice Robinson Knickerbocker. He and Phyllis Lambert were married Dec. 14, 1993, in Miami, Okla.
He attended LaCroix United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau. He graduated from Pittsburg State University and received his master's degree in social work from Kansas University in Lawrence. He had been a social worker with the state of Kansas, hospital administrator and director of medical social services at St. Francis Medical Center in Witchita, Kan., welfare director of Mongomery County, Kan., and had worked at Independence Nursery & Garden Center in Independence, Kan. He retired in 1995 and moved to Cape Girardeau from Miami, Okla., two years ago. He worked at Garden Hill Nursery during the summer of 2000.
Survivors include his wife; his mother of Neodesha, Kan.; a son, William Charles Knickerbocker of Denver; a daughter, Linda Blockyou of Witchita; two brothers, Joe Knickerbocker of Independence, Mo., and David Knickerbocker of Neodesha; and two grandchildren.
Friends may call from 4-6 p.m. today at Ford & Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home and Monday afternoon at Timmons Funeral Home in Fredonia, Kan.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Timmons Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fredonia City Cemetery.
