CHARLESTON -- William Jefferson, 68, of Charleston died suddenly Sunday, Feb. 28, 1999, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
He was born Feb. 22, 1931, in Grand Chain, Ill., son of Matthew and Martha Dowd Banks Jefferson. He and Juanita Treadwell were married July 17, 1954.
Jefferson had lived in Missouri more than 50 years.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Ray and William Jefferson Jr. of Charleston; two daughters, Jeanette Jefferson of Kalamazoo, Mich., Earnestine Kent of Charleston; two brothers, Matthew Jefferson of Danville, Ill., John Jefferson of Battle Creek, Mich.; a sister, Emma Kent of Charleston; 19 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Sparks Funeral Home, with Elder Ernest Ivy officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from 11 a.m. until service time.
