William J. Tinsley, 84, 1749 Anna, died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 1995, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born Jan. 2, 1911, in Cape Girardeau, son of Charles and Daisy Stevenson Tinsley. He and Ruth Watkins were married Dec. 21, 1946, in Piggott, Ark.
Tinsley managed Singer Sewing Machine Stores in Cape Girardeau and Springfield; Cairo, Ill., and in Iowa. He later sold Maytag Coin Laundries and carports. He served in the Aleutian Islands and the South Pacific during World War II. He was a life member of VFW Post 3838 and served two terms as commander.
Survivors include his wife; a son, C. William Tinsley of Cape Girardeau; two grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother and sister.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Chapel, 1425 Kurre Lane in Cape Girardeau, from 3-7 p.m. today, and after 9 a.m. Thursday.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. S.S. Borum officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.
