LEOPOLD - William J. Landewee, 87, of Leopold, died Saturday, Jan. 23, 1993, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born June 10, 1905,in Leopold, son of Herman and Mary Engelen Landewee.

On April, 11, 1934, he married Rosa Beel.

He was a retired farmer and a member of the St. John's Catholic Church in Leopold.

Landewee was a Fourth Degree Knight as a member of the St. Isidore Council #5898 Knights of Columbus in Leopold.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Edward Landewee of Scott City, Clem Landewee, Ted Landewee, Glen Landewee, all of Leopold; three daughters, Martha Horrell of Glenon, Mo., Dorothy Elfrink of Leopold, Marie Peters of St. Louis; a brother, Frank Landewee of Chaffee; two sisters, Marie Wiedfield of Cape Girardeau, Barbara VandeVen of Chaffee; 34 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, two sisters and one grandchild.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at the Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill. Parish prayers will be said at 7 p.m. at Liley Funeral Home. At 7:30 p.m. there will be a Knights of Columbus rosary.

Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. John's Catholic Church in Leopold with Father Michael Casteel officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
