CHARLESTON -- Funeral service for William H. "Bill" Simpson of Charleston will be held at 11 a.m. today at McMikle Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Dariel Hodge will officiate, with burial in IOOF Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 9 a.m. today.

Simpson, 63, died Sunday, Aug. 15, 1993, at his home.

He was born March 9, 1930, in Olmsted, Ill., son of Charles and Velma Barnes Simpson. He first married Mary Alice Ozment, who died Dec. 13, 1973. He later married Cora Allensworth Oct. 15, 1982.

Simpson had been employed by Enterprise Courier newspaper in Charleston and Moll Printing Co. in Sikeston, retiring in 1991. He was a member of Cornerstore General Baptist Church at Bertrand, and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Darrell Simpson of East Prairie; a daughter, Malinda Givens of East Prairie; his mother of Sikeston; a stepson, Darrell Stallings of Charleston; two stepdaughters, Faye Bruenderman of Sikeston, Patricia Scudder of Poplar Bluff; a brother, Phillip Simpson of Kenosha, Wis.; a sister, Katherine Robertson of Olmsted; four grandchildren, and 11 stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother.
