BLOOMFIELD, Mo. -- William Norton "Dude" Evans, 84, of Bloomfield, formerly of East Prairie, Mo., died Friday, Jan. 24, 2003, at the John Cochran Veterans Medical Center in St. Louis. BLOOMFIELD, Mo. -- William Norton "Dude" Evans, 84, of Bloomfield, formerly of East Prairie, Mo., died Friday, Jan. 24, 2003, at the John Cochran Veterans Medical Center in St. Louis.

He was born March 31, 1918, at Hickman, Ky., son of William and Nettie Lee Johnston Evans. He and Lois Lovella Frix were married Oct. 26, 1946.

He lived in the East Prairie area most of his life, moving to Bloomfield in 1979. A member of the First Christian Church in East Prairie, he was a retired farmer and machinist, as well as a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife of the home in Bloomfield; two sons, James Curtis Evans of Dallas and William George Evans of Bloomfield; three daughters, Donna Forbey of Bloomfield, Netta Stevens of New Orleans and Treva Doris King of East Prairie; one sister, Leola Poole of Jackson; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.

Friends may call at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, Mo., from 5 to 8 p.m. today.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Kenneth Biggs officiating. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery near Charleston. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Missouri Military Honors Program.
