William Alonzo Dixon Sr., 85, of St. Louis died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002, at Christian Northeast Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born March 29, 1917, son of Ozark and Essie Martin Dixon. He and Mildred Virginia Wade were married Nov. 7, 1959.
Dixon was formerly of Charleston, Mo., and Cape Girardeau. He retired as a carpenter with Penzel Construction Co. Inc. in Jackson.
He served in the U.S. Army from January 1943 to February 1946.
Survivors include a son, William Dixon Jr. of St. Louis; two brothers, Robert Dixon of Baltimore, Md., Herbert Dixon of Saginaw, Mich.; three sisters, Callie Rivers of Charleston, Rosemary Smith of Chicago, Pauline Salvordoh of Danville, Ill.; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife and eight brothers and sisters.
Friends may call at Sparks Funeral Home in Charleston from 6 to 8 p.m. today.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Futrell Memorial Church of God in Christ in Jackson. Elder William Bird Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery at Jackson.
