DONGOLA, Ill. -- William George Dillow, 81, of Dongola died Monday, June 29, 1998, at his home.

He was born July 18, 1916, in Union County, son of George Elijah and Clara Combs Dillow. He and Myrtle Belle Sronce were married Aug. 19, 1933, in Jonesboro. She died Nov. 8, 1992.

Dillow was a farmer, and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of American Legion.

Survivors include two sons, James Dillow of Shannon, Gary "Pee Wee" Dillow of Olive Branch; five daughters, Marcella McCommons, Lula Tripp and Shirley Simmerman of Dongola, Pat Webb and Joyce Poole of Anna; two sisters, Virginia Stubbs of Baton Rouge, La., Nedadean LeGrone of Coaling, Ala.; three brothers, Perry Dillow of Iola, Kan., Larry Dillow of Anna, Gerald Dillow of Fairview Heights; stepmother, Ruby Dillow of Dongola; 25 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at Hileman and Parr Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. today.

Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. John's Cemetery, with the Rev. George McCommons officiating. Military rites will be conducted by VFW Post 3455 in Anna.
