CHAFFEE, Mo. -- William Edward Caul went home to the Lord Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2006.
Ed was born in Wayne County, Mo., Jan. 17, 1915, son of the late Frank and Annie Eudaley Caul. He married Kathleen Marian Berendes Jan. 7, 1939. She preceded him in death Jan. 19, 1978. He married Mary Faye Dennis-Eachus July 26, 1980. She survives.
Survivors include a daughter, Marilyn Brown and husband Charlie of Houston, Texas; two sisters, Edna Colbert of Sikeston, Mo., Kathryn Miller of Rockview, Mo.; a stepson, Russell Eachus and wife Katie of St. Louis; a stepdaughter, Gina Glaus Lowrey and husband Rick, and their children, Logan and Garrett of Prairie Village, Kan.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ed was a farmer all his life and excelled at this career. He retired from active farming in 1970 only to direct his passion and love for the land to conservation farming for wildlife and reforesting. As recently as May of this year he was out in the field planting corn for deer. He was also an avid hunter, an accomplished furniture maker and a problem solver. He was a man of great integrity, wisdom and strong faith.
He was a faithful servant and member of First United Methodist Church in Chaffee for over 60 years. He held various leadership positions on the administrative board, taught Sunday school, led the Methodist Men, and served faithfully on the Board of Trustees. He helped shape the life and fabric of the church. Ed served on Chaffee General Hospital Development Board many years. He was a member of Gideons International Bible Society.
He was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Suzie Eachus Glaus; three brothers and three sisters.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee.
The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church in Chaffee, with the Rev. Marty Blakey presiding and the Rev. Leland Butler giving the eulogy. A graveside service will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens near Morley, Mo.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church Trustee Fund, 203 S. Third St., Chaffee, Mo., 63740.
