William "Bill" Lewis Boren, 70, a lifelong resident of Cape Girardeau, passed away Saturday, June 21, 2014, at Southeast Hospital after a three-year battle with renal-cell cancer.

He was born July 31, 1943, in Cape Girardeau to the late Wilbur and Vernell Bock Boren.

Bill was a 1961 graduate of Cape Girardeau Central and served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1967. He and Linda Lee Holland were married Nov. 12, 1971. Bill was a plumber/pipe fitter for Local 562 40 years, a member of LaCroix United Methodist Church and Kimbeland Country Club.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Linda L. Boren of Cape Girardeau; son CDR Matt (Dawn) Boren of Jacksonville, Florida; daughter Natalie Boren of Los Angeles; and sisters Shirley Waterman and Carol (Carl) Shaw, all of Cape Girardeau.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ron Watts officiating. Burial will be with full military rites at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society or Southeast Hospice.
