JONESBORO, Ill. -- William Carl Bird Sr., 86, of Jonesboro died Monday, July 30, 2001, at Union County Hospital in Anna, Ill.
He was born Oct. 6, 1914, in Union County, Ill., son of Ira and Myrtle Hoyle Bird. He and Lulu Fox were married March 4, 1939. She died July 4, 1982.
Bird was a retired Baptist minister, serving churches in Texas, Illinois, Arkansas, Missouri and Ohio. He retired as an educator at Elgin Mental Health Center.
Survivors include two sons, William Bird Jr. of Jonesboro, George Bird of Elgin; a daughter, Lulu Roessler of Elgin; a brother, Lloyd Bird of Anna; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, two sisters, and three brothers.
Friends may call at Crain Funeral Home in Anna from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Joe Hankla will officiate. Burial will be in Anna Cemetery.
