Wilbur L. "Wimpy" Floyd, 87, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, July 2, 2005, at his residence.

He was born Aug. 20, 1917, in Boss, Mo., the son of Luther Roy and Artie Irene Bell Floyd. He and Lorene Helen Tinker were married on Aug. 20, 1938, in Jackson.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a lifetime member of VFW Post 3838. He was employed by Superior Electric in Cape Girardeau for 46 years and retired as personnel manager. He was a member of Mount Auburn Christian Church.

He is survived by his wife; a son and daughter-in-law, Jack Edward and Brenda Floyd of Jackson; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary L. and Charles Schlegel Jr. of Tempe, Ariz.; a brother, Paul Floyd of Portland, Ore.; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, four brothers and one great-grandchild.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
