Wesley Gilder, 65, of Millersville passed away Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born Aug. 1, 1951, in Whitewater, son of Earl Wesley and Betty Dee Walker Gilder. He and Edna Mansker Russell were united in marriage April 15, 1995, and she passed away Sept. 19, 1998...

Wesley Gilder, 65, of Millersville passed away Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Aug. 1, 1951, in Whitewater, son of Earl Wesley and Betty Dee Walker Gilder. He and Edna Mansker Russell were united in marriage April 15, 1995, and she passed away Sept. 19, 1998.

In November 2012, Wesley was diagnosed with cancer. He battled this disease for four years, never complaining, and with great courage and strength. Despite the challenges with which he was faced, Wesley worked until August 2015, when he became disabled. He left a lasting impression of his great faith and trust in God for all who knew him. He was a member of the Haynes Chapel Congregational Methodist Church and enjoyed gardening and planting flowers.

Survivors include sisters, Ruth Davenport of Marble Hill, Missouri, and Mary Lou and Patsy J. Gilder, both of Millersville; a special friend, Kathy Boling of Perryville, Missouri; and a host of cousins.

Wesley was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Gilder, and his parents.

The family would like to express a special thanks to Robin, Jerad, Rita and Pastor Rick, and the rest of the Visiting Nurse Association Hospice for the loving care provided to Wesley.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Zion Methodist Church Cemetery in Gordonville.
