DEXTER, Mo. -- Wendell Penick, 78, of Union, Mo., died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2000, at Beverly Healthcare in Sullivan, Mo. He was born May 24, 1922, at Bernie, Mo., son of John F. and Leona Johnson Penick. He and Geraldine Griffin were married Feb. 7, 1942, at St. Charles, Mo...

DEXTER, Mo. -- Wendell Penick, 78, of Union, Mo., died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2000, at Beverly Healthcare in Sullivan, Mo.

He was born May 24, 1922, at Bernie, Mo., son of John F. and Leona Johnson Penick. He and Geraldine Griffin were married Feb. 7, 1942, at St. Charles, Mo.

Penick was formerly of Dexter and St. Louis, moving to Union in 1978. He attended St. John's United Church of Christ in St. Clair, Mo.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Judy Metzger of Sullivan; a brother, Rondle Penick of Dexter; and a granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter after 9 a.m. Thursday.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The Rev. Kevin Eskew will officiate. Burial will be in Smith-Stevenson Cemetery near Dexter.
