Wendell E. Hashley, 82, of Connersville, Ind., died Wednesday, April 28, 2004, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, while visiting a son.
He was born Nov. 21, 1921, in Jackson, Mich., son of Henry E. and Elizabeth Esterline Hashley. He and Florence E. Brown were married Nov. 15, 1942, in Richmond, Va. She died July 5, 2001.
Hashley worked 30 years with Dresser Industries in New York, Pennsylvania and Indiana, retiring in 1982. Prior to that he worked at James McGraw Co. in Richmond.
He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Connersville; Macedonia Lodge 258 F&AM in Bolivar, N.Y.; Scottish Rite in Jamestown, N.Y.; and Amaranth in Olean, N.Y., and Indianapolis, Ind.
Hashley served with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Wyoming during World War II.
Survivors include a son, Eugene Hashley of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, LaVonda Geistel of Jackson, Mich., Donna Dickinson of Fort Worth, Texas; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. May 16 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Connersville, with the Rev. Janet Richardson officiating. Burial will be in Everton Cemetery.
Urban-Winkler Funeral Home in Connersville is in charge of arrangements.
