JACKSON, Mo. -- Wendell P. Barks, 90, of Jackson died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Dec. 28, 1911, at Marble Hill, Mo., son of Edward Newton and Sarah Belle Stevens Barks. He and Clodine Reutzel were married Nov. 13, 1935. She died March 28, 1968.
Barks was a farmer in the Glen Allen, Mo., community. He served on the Woodland School Board, was a member of the IOOF Lodge, the St. Frances Baptist Association, the First Baptist Church in Glen Allen and helped establish Camp Canaan in Marquand, Mo.
Survivors include a son, Jim Barks of Glen Allen; three daughters, Glenda Francis and Mary Barnes, both of Jackson, and Wanda Francis of Marble Hill; a sister, Ola Schreiner of Jackson; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the chapel, with the Rev. Dale Huff and Dr. Rick Francis officiating. Burial will be in Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery.
