WELDON M. LAYTON

PERRYVILLE -- Weldon M. Layton, 80 years old, of Perryville died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 1991, at Perry County Memorial Hospital.

He was born Aug. 23, 1910, son of Marion A. and Elizabeth Harrell Layton.

On May 7, 1938, he married Mildred L. Merkel in Perry County. She died Feb. 2, 1982.

He was a retired machine operator at Mississippi Lime Co. in Ste. Genevieve.

Survivors are sons, Sylvester, Marion and David Layton, all of Perryville; daughters, Sharon Lorenz, Glenda Robinson, and Wanda Winkler, all of Perryville, Shirley Zahner, Sedgewickville, Virginia Stirnaman, St. Louis, and Norma Dickmann, Sedalia; a brother, Leo Layton, St. Louis; a sister, Julia Brisacher, Lake of the Ozarks; 26 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A son and two sisters also preceded him in death.

Friends may call at Drayton Funeral Home in Perryville between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. today. A wake service will be held at the funeral home at 7 tonight.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Soreno by the Rev. Charles Herbst. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Perryville.
