CYPRESS, Ill. - Wayne Peeler, 77, a retired Union County educator, from Anna, Ill., formerly of Cypress, died Thursday, Feb. 3, at the Union County Hospital in Anna.
He was born Oct. 27, 1916, at Cypress, to Charles S. and Ollie D. Casper Peeler.
He married Melba George on Dec. 25, 1943.
Peeler is survived by his wife; three daughters, Kathryn McElroy of Belleville, Gayle Peeler of Hendersonville, Tenn., and Ellen Peeler of Belleville. Other survivors include one brother, Edison Peeler of Seattle, Wash., and two granddaughters.
Peeler was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Peeler was a retired teacher and principal of the Dongola Elementary School. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Cypress, and a member of the Stone Arch Lodge 953 of Cypress. Peeler was an Army Air Force veteran of World War Two.
Friends may call from 5-9 p.m., Sunday, and until the time of funeral services on Monday, at the Crain Funeral Home in Anna.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, at 11 a.m., at the Crain Funeral Home in Anna, with the Rev. Marion Mosley officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery at Cypress.
