DONGOLA, Ill. -- Wayne Parr, 81, of Dongola died Friday, Feb. 5, 1999, at Union County Hospital in Anna.
He was born Jan. 8, 1918, at Cypress, the son of Lionel and Muri Niblock Parr. He married Ruby George Nov. 29, 1941.
He was a retired carpenter and farmer. He had been a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America for more than 50 years, was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church. He had served as superintendent of Friendship Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; one son, Larry Parr of Carbondale; one daughter, Linda Elkins of Elgin; one brother, Chris Parr of Buena Park, Calif.; four half-brothers, Luther and Delbert Parr, both of Anna, L.J. Parr of Hammond, Ind., and Ray Parr of Sikeston; one half-sister, Thelma Moeke of Cypress; one stepsister, Lela Templeton of Anna; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, a half-sister and a stepsister.
Service will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Crain Funeral Home in Dongola with the Rev. Floyd Stout officiating. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and on Monday before the funeral service.
