PERKS, Ill. -- Funeral for Wayne Duke of Perks will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Crain Funeral Home in Dongola. The Rev. Ron Ferguson will officiate. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, with military rites by Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455 in Anna.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-9 p.m. today.
Duke, 53, died Monday, Aug. 16, 1999, at his home.
He was born July 26, 1946, in Cairo, son of Cletus Marion and Pauline Haines Duke. He and Jeanie Davis were married March 29, 1968.
Duke was maintenance supervisor at Shawnee College. He had also been a welding, taxidermy and archery teacher at the college.
He was a member of Maple Grove Baptist Church in Perks, and Dongola Masonic Lodge 581 AF&AM. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Vanessa Winding of Mermet, Melanie Evans of Perks; a son, Jeffery Duke of Perks; his parents of Cypress; two sisters, Linda Sickling of Dongola, Sandra Miller of Wetaug; two brothers, Randy Duke of Perks, Ronnie Duke of Cypress; and three grandchildren.
