Waymon G. Lawley
DALLAS. -- Gale Lawley, 79, died Friday, April 3, 2009 in Dallas.
Gale was born Jan. 25, 1930, in Davis, Okla., to Carl and Hattie Horn Lawley. He attended high school in Kilgore, Texas, served in the Air Force during the Korean conflict, received a bachelor of science degree from Texas Christian University and later attended University of Kansas as a post graduate. He was married to Joyce Oliver from 1963 until her death in 1990.
Gale was the city manager at Camden, Ark., Cape Girardeau and Burlington, Iowa. He was a member of the International City Management Association.
He is survived by four children, David (Angie) Lawley of Charlotte, N.C., Jason Baker and Kimberly Higbee, both of Kansas City, Kan., and Kristin Lawley of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; six grandchildren; two brothers, Wraymon (Jo Ann) Lawley and Tommy (Gloria) Lawley; and numerous nieces, nephew and great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, spouse and lifelong companion, Deana Hall.
Per Gale's request, no services will be held. The Cremation Society of Eastern Central Western Iowa is assisting with arrangements. Memorial donations may be directed to the Great River Hospice in Burlington, Iowa.
